How to live to be 100+
Watch this video and you will be amazed about how simple life can be..!
How to live to be 100+?
1. Move naturally - you do not need any exercise session if your lifestyle is natural and you use your body to do your job instead of buttons and remote controls.
2. Right outlook - wait for a while, relax, focus in the present and concentrate on the joy of the life right here, right now.
3. Eat wisely - you do not need any kind of diet if you eat what your body asks for naturally - a lot of vegetables, fruits, pulses, water, little bit of pure wine if you wish, small quantities and till you reach 80% of your fullness.
4. Connect - be with your love ones, make friends, communicate, share, love - all these are naturally into you.
Everything said in a beautiful video in TED.
We are going to be health professionals affecting others' people life. First, we have to learn to enjoy our own life.
A nice solution for people with paraplegia
Tek RMD, provides the opportunity of movement for people with paraplegia by enabling them to independently stand up in a completely upright position with correct posture, facilitating their movement and comfortable completion of their daily tasks indoors, such as in the home, office and shopping mall. Tek RMD is not an alternative to wheelchairs, it is a totally new concept, a new platform.
Wheelchair rugby
Did you know that people with quadriplegia have their own wheelchair rugby sport?
Wheelchair rugby is a team sport for athletes with a disability. It is practiced in over twenty countries around the world and is a Paralympic sport.
Developed in Canada in 1977, the sport's original name was murderball. The United States name "quad rugby" is based on the fact that all wheelchair rugby players need to have disabilities that include at least some loss of function in at least three limbs—most are medically classified as quadriplegic.
Wheelchair rugby is played indoors on a hardwood court. The rules include elements of wheelchair basketball, ice hockey, handball and rugby union. It is a contact sport and physical contact between wheelchairs is an integral part of the game. It has little in common with Rugby football except for the name.
The sport is governed by the International Wheelchair Rugby Federation (IWRF) which was established in 1993.
And of course, Greece has its own National Wheelchair Rugby team..! Go boys..!
What is interesting for Physical Therapists that want to get into this field is that there is a special Functional Classification system by which each athlete gets a point based on his/her functional condition and then he can enter a team.
Classification is a unique and integral part of sport for persons with disabilities. The purpose of classification is to ensure fair and equitable competition at all levels of sport and to allow athletes to compete at the highest level, regardless of individual differences in physical function.

Wheels for life
Maybe you think that you can not fly, but spend 2 minutes watching this video and think about it again..!
Albert Llovera Massana (born 11 September 1966) is a rally driver and former alpine skier from Andorra. He became the youngest athlete to compete in the Winter Olympics in 1984 at the age of 17. A serious accident in 1985 left him paralysed from the waist down. He has since taken up rallying, using cars with specially adapted hand controls. He is currently competing in the Super 2000 World Rally Championship.
Did you know that..?
Did you know Alli Opsi? What is this? What does it mean?
Alli Opsi (which means a “Different View” or the “Other Side” in Greek) is a non-profit association that was founded in Thessaloniki Greece in June 2007 mostly by young people with or without disability.
The main activity of Alli Opsi is to organise Training Camps, addressed at people with quadriplegia or paraplegia mostly caused by spinal cord injury, as well as people with amputation.
The aim of the Camp is to provide people with disability with the necessary means and experiences in order to attain higher level of autonomy. This is achieved through face to face peer support and intensive training.
We believe that accomplishing the highest possible level of autonomy by people with disability is a pre-requisite for achieving a better quality of life.
The initial idea for founding Alli Opsi arose when we became acquainted with the Swedish Non-Profit Organization Rekryteringsgruppen www.rekryteringsgruppen.se.
On average, 30 participants with Tetraplegia, Paraplegia and amputation gather together with 15 leaders with disability and 15 individuals who act as a support group to train new techniques, strength and physical condition, try out numerous activities and exchange knowledge and experiences.
You will be amazed seeing what people on a wheelchare can do and achieve.
The Science of Healing - The Art of Caring
This wonderful video by the American Physical Therapist Association was the start for my first steps in Physical Therapy.
These two phrases "The Science of Healing" and "The Art Caring" touched me so much that I decided to quit my previous job and start this wonderful science in my 31 years old.
I believe Physical Therapy is one of the most (if not the most) amazing, beautiful, challenging jobs one can do in the world.
If you love the human body, you enjoy working with people and offering your services and knowledge, motivating them and helping them getting back to their everyday activities... this profession is for you..!
You can be me..!
